Do I need a "Buisness License" in Alameda CA?  I am still waiting on my backround check its been just less then 1 month now.  As I get closer to starting this I was wondering what other small things I need to get done.  So anyone know?  Thank you for the help.

Every county and city is different. I have a Business License in San Jose, Ca, because I do loan signings also. I make money above the general notarizations. Call the City and find out if it is necessary.

Your best bet is to call the city directly... but don't forget other permits/licensex you might need.

To find out what you need go to: http://www.calgold.ca.gov

Or, if you want to see what a Notary might need in Alameda, see:

http://www.calgold.ca.gov/Results1.asp?TYPE=541120&CNTY=01&CITY=3

It's likely that most of those won't apply to you, but some will, especially City and County requirements. If you're not sure what you need, I'd contact a business attorney to help you set things up.
