As a Notory, how do I go about doing this "notorization" for someone requesting this? The person(s) requesting must write a letter to the Department of State. The request must be notorized. My question: Where do I notorize? Do I attach an "acknowledgment?" Please help! We are pressed for time before International travel begins. Thank you!

The signer must present to you the letter they are sending to the Dept of State. They must also include the notary certificate on the letter --OR-- they must tell you what type of notarization is needed; an acknowledgment or a jurat. You cannot decide what notarial act is required, only the person signing the document or the recipient of the document can tell you. Then you can perform the request notarial act, attach a loose certificate and complete the notarial certification.
